A homogeneous mixture of more than one substance, with the different particles evenly distributed throughout. We usually think of a solution as being a solid dissolved in a liquid, but in fact, a solution can be a gas or liquid in another liquid, a mixture of two gases, or even one solid dissolved in another, as in a metal alloy.
