A wave with both magnetic and electrical field components, which oscillate perpendicular to each other. Visible light, radio waves, microwaves, and x-rays are all types of electromagnetic radiation. Their differences are due to the particular frequencies of their waves. Though it behaves like a wave, electromagnetic radiation also shows some particle-like behaviour, such as travelling in discrete packets, called photons.
